ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Riding Instructor Cathleen Chapman

Riding Instructor Cathleen Chapman

Cathleen Chapman brings more than 40 years experience as a horse owner, competitor, instructor, and trainer to her Holistic teaching methods. Having first honed her skills as a successful competitor in the Hunter/Jumper arena in the 1970s and 1980s, Cathleen was "bitten" by the Dressage bug while attending the equestrian events at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, California. To her advantage the burgeoning Dressage community in southern California offered nearly limitless opportunities to work with skilled instructors and attend clinics and seminars with world renowned clinicians including Charles de Kunffy, and Olympians Reiner Klimke, Hilda Gurney, and Guenter Seidel. Other influences include Sally Swift (Centered Riding), Natural Horsemanship trainers John Lyons and Monty Roberts, and the pioneering work of Linda Tellington-Jones (TTouch Training).Under Cathleen's instruction, riders across all disciplines will learn skills needed to ride correctly and in harmony with their equine partners. For the competitive rider seeking to improve and advance their performance, Cathleen's Dressage based teaching goes far beyond technical equitation to give the rider insight into both the physiology and psychology of developing a happy, healthy, and more athletic horse regardless of the rider's chosen discipline.

Having relocated to Idaho after more than eight years in England, Cathleen is now available for lessons at Mountainview Training and Show Center in Caldwell and is also accepting a limited a limited number of horses for training.
